When Sam came to St.Moninna's!
We would like to thank Aileen Magennis, Conor Magennis, Shea Magill and Oisin O'Neill for taking time out of their busy lives to bring a special guest to our school. We were privileged to welcome the Sam Maguire after an amazing summer which seen Armagh become All-Ireland Champions.
The children and staff of our school welcomed Sam and the players with a guard of honour as the front of the school became a sea of orange and white. The cup was then taken to every class for a class photo before a special Assembly was held to mark the occasion.
Our assembly began with a fantastic performance of Amhrán na bhFiann by Fionn and Odhran. Following this, some children were given the opportunity to ask Aileen, Conor, Shea and Oisin some questions which led to some fantastic responses from the panel. They gave an insight on how to prepare for big games, dealing with the new rules and the possibility of becoming the first Armagh team to ever retain the Sam Maguire.
Our Assembly concluded with some closing words from Mrs Temple and a fantastic mash-up of The Boys From The County Armagh, Come On Armagh and G Stands For Geezer, performed by Mrs Rooney and the children. We would like to give a special mention to Ruby's Balloon Barn for our Armagh themed balloon arch and stands and thank Lisa for all the work she puts in to help with occasions like this in our school.
