Primary 7, in conjunction with Re-Gen, have begun a new initiative called ‘STEAM in a Box’. Over the next few weeks, the children will experience the various strands of STEAM, with particular focus on engineering. Louth and Tiarnan from Re-Gen have very kindly given up their time and expertise to inspire our children to love STEAM subjects and to become the future generation of Scientists, Technologists, Engineers, Artists and Mathematicians.
In the first lesson the children were introduced to what engineering is and the design process involved in problem solving. They learnt about infrastructure and tested various designs for bridges. They also looked at shelters and had the opportunity to be creative and build their own bird feeder.
